Yesterday, we discussed how we are most likely just days away from seeing the long awaited arrest of Paul Manafort based on his Friday arraignment, which will send him to prison until the conclusion of his trial. Well, now it’s time to discuss how the arrests of Roger Stone and Michael Cohen are soon to follow.
Up to this point, we already knew that federal prosecutors are knee deep into investigating Michael Cohen, but have received little to no details regarding grand jury proceedings or indictment timeframes. However, according to Vanity Fair, we’ve now learned that Cohen, thanks to insider information, is informing his associates that he expects to be arrested “any day now.” When reached out to for comment, Cohen wrote in a text message, “Your alleged source is wrong!”
Typically speaking, when prosecutors are trying to convince someone to cut a plea deal, it’s common practice for them to provide some form of warning to the individual that their arrest is inevitably coming if they choose not to flip.
Interestingly enough, the Vanity Fair article quotes unnamed members of the Trump regime who believe Cohen will indeed flip, and if he does, it will not bode well for Trump. In fact, one former White House official went so far as to say that “Trump should be super worried about Michael Cohen. If anyone can blow up Trump, it’s him.”
However, if Cohen doesn’t flip, as much as it may seem like he could be next in line for prison, believe it or not, it may actually end up being Roger Stone as it appears the grand jury proceedings against him have now reached the point where people closest to him are testifying against him.
Needless to say, all eyes are on Manafort, Cohen, and Stone this week, because it seems they’re all in a race to cut their respective plea deals (at least they should be, if they were smart) or land in prison.
It will be interesting to see how things transpire, but the truth of the matter is this: all three have enough dirt on Donald Trump to do some serious damage.
