James Comey has a lot of friends, but one of the more vocal friends since his untimely firing is Benjamin Wittes, a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institute and the Editor in Chief of Lawfare. As a well-known member of Comey’s closest friends, we know he has more intel than most and now he seems to be teasing something major is about to break. This week he tweeted, “tick tick tick tick tick tick tick”.
We can only imagine what this means, but after a firestorm of speculation on his Twitter post, he did go on to clarify saying, “3 things: 1) Not all ticks are related to Comey. 2) Fuse length remains uncertain. 3) Interesting preemptive defense of collusion happening.”
He’s basically saying, I didn’t hear this from Comey BUT Trump is trying to avoid charges and it is probably all going down sooner rather than later.
Around the same time this was tweeted, lots of new information came out about the Trump-Russia investigation. Carter Page, former Trump inner circle member, has been meeting with investigators, Jared Kushner has hired a defense attorney, and Trump is tweeting like an idiot. The evidence against him is stacking up.
With all of this movement, the path to prosecution and impeachment must be growing. Here’s to hoping that the new evidence gets leaked soon, because we are dying to know what the final nail in the coffin is going to be.
