It seems like every day, another member of the Trump team is exposed as being deeply connected to this Russia scandal.
After the revelation last week of Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya during the campaign to get dirt on Hillary Clinton, the connections are coming out of the woodwork. Attorney General Jeff Sessions? Yep. He’s in the mix too.
Democrats from the Senate Judiciary Committee have now sent Attorney General Jeff Sessions a letter demanding he explain why his Justice Department abruptly settled on a prominent money-laundering case involving a Russian real-estate deal.
The son of a powerful Russian official was the person involved, who just happens to be represented by the now infamous lawyer who met with Donald Trump Jr. during the election, according to Business Insider.
Lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya represents Denis Katsyv who owns a accused of laundering millions of dollar through New York real estate. Guess who owns tons of New York real estate? The Trump family.
Rightfully so, Senate Democrats suspected that Trump and Sessions could have have settled the case in an attempt to hide things pertaining to the Russian scandal. The Justice Department abruptly decided to settle a $230 million case for just $6 million, just 48 hours before the trial was to go to court.
Here is the letter to Sessions:
You may notice at the end of the letter that it mentions the 12 other letters they’ve sent to the Justice Department. That should tell you all you need to know about Sessions and transparency. It should also tell you something about his possible involvement in this collusion scandal.
