On May 14, First Lady Melania Trump was admitted to Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland where she underwent kidney surgery for a benign condition, making her the first United States first lady to undergo a serious medical procedure while in the White House since 1987 when Nancy Reagan had her mastectomy.
Melania had practically fallen off the grid for a while. While most would assume that was exclusively due to her recovery, it appears that wasn’t the case, as one source close to her indicates she has also been trying to better her marriage.
According to HollywoodLife, that source said, “Melania has been taking a little ‘me time’ to work on fully regaining her health, and to try and strengthen her marriage again.”
“It’s been a hideously stressful past few months, and Melania needs a break out of the media glare to recharge her batteries and take stock,” the source added.
However, according to that same source, strengthening the marriage hasn’t exactly gone as planned, because “Donald has been under an ever increasing ton of pressure, so he definitely isn’t in the best of moods, which makes for a pretty tense atmosphere at home.”
“Melania really is getting to the point now where she just wishes Donald’s presidency was over, and she can’t wait to return to her ‘regular’ life again, even though she realizes it will never be quite the same,” the source continued.
For those who are wondering, according to a statement from Stephanie Grisham, her communications director, the surgery proved successful and she suffered no complications.
The most interesting thing Melania said was that she needed to “take stock”. When someone says that in a relationship, the future of said relationship is typically questionable.
