Stormy Daniels’ 60 Minutes interview suggested that a man threatened the safety of Daniels and her infant child if she took her affair with Donald Trump public. She seemed to imply that Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen was the person that orchestrated the threat.
Michael Cohen’s attorney promptly sent Daniels a letter demanding she stop claiming this happened. Daniels snapped back with a lawsuit that revealed even more that we previously knew.
Cohen and Daniels signed a nondisclosure agreement in 2016 right before the election, which was a move that appears to be politically motivated based on the timing. Then February of 2018 rolls around and the affair and subsequent payoff became public, therefore Cohen sent an email to Daniels’ attorney.
Cohen demanded that Daniels’ previous attorney not give her new attorney any of the information from the previous communications. Cohen basically tried to keep Daniels from being able to properly represent herself in any new legal situations with a new attorney.
NBC News is reporting this development with a copy of the email from Cohen.
While it seems that this was in violation of the law, it will ultimately be up to the courts to decide how far to take it.
Trump and his entire legal team are clearly trying to put the pressure to Daniels to try to make this problem go away for them. Trump is clearly so distraught that he hasn’t even mentioned her by name in Twitter, which is not who Trump is. He ALWAYS retaliates, so the fact that he hasn’t shows us just how panicked he actually is.
Trump made just one generic remark just after the 60 Minutes interview, saying: “So much Fake News. Never been more voluminous or more inaccurate. But through it all, our country is doing great!”
