The mayor of Philadelphia Jim Kenney is slamming Trump for his decision to disinvite the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House for a Super Bowl celebration. Kennedy called the president a “fragile egomaniac” and said Trump was “afraid” to host after some players said they would boycott the event.
Kenney’s official statement said “Disinviting them from the White House only proves that our President is not a true patriot, but a fragile egomaniac obsessed with crowd size and afraid of the embarrassment of throwing a party to which no one wants to attend.”
Mike Garafolo, a NFL reporter, said the team only expected about 10 players to attend the event. Trump responded by saying the Eagles were “unable” to come with the full team so the team wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the fans “deserve better.”
Kenney went on to praise to his team saying “The Eagles call the birthplace of our democracy home, so it’s no surprise that this team embodies everything that makes our country and our city great… These are players who stand up for the causes they believe in and who contribute in meaningful ways to their community. They represent the diversity of our nation — a nation in which we are free to express our opinions.”
It’s extremely refreshing to know that there are leaders in cities across America who are no afraid to call Trump what he really is. Trump continues to embarrass our great nation on a daily basis, but the good news is congress will turn blue this fall and Trump will be on his way out.
