On Monday, ProPublica, an old, respected source of bipartisan news in America, reported (accurately) that Donald Trump had changed the wording of his Trust, allowing him to withdraw funds from it at his leisure, without disclosing it publicly.
Press Secretary Sean Spicer took exception to this report, when asked about it at his Tuesday press briefing. Spicer’s response was unsurprisingly dismissive, stating “Just because a left-wing blog makes the point of something changing doesn’t mean it actually happened,” Spicer said. “I’m not aware that there was ever a change in the trust. And the idea that the President is withdrawing money at some point is exactly the purpose of what the trust, why a trust is set up, regardless of an individual.”
There are many problems and inaccuracies in what Spicer said, not the least of which is that Donald Trump actually DID, without question, make the change to his trust.
Enter ProPublica. ProPublica is far from a “left wing blog.” In fact, it’s a respected source of factual reporting on public policy and government news. They obviously took exception with Spicer’s comments and decided to respond on Twitter, schooling Spicer in “facts,” since Spicer doesn’t seem to understand what they are:
