Things are heating up (and not in the gross, sexual way they did a decade ago) between Stephanie Clifford, AKA Stormy Daniels and popular vote loser Donald Trump and his very sane genius legal team.
Daniels alleges, of course, that the two had an affair and that Trump’s legal team paid her off for her silence on the matter, which she is now contesting.
The entire issue just took a dramatic turn, as Daniels issued a stunning ultimatum of sorts to Trump’s lawyers. Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenetti, sent a letter to Trump lawyer Michael Cohen offering to return the $130,000 in hush money he paid her so that she can be free tell her entire story, which is said to include photographic evidence that would be highly embarrassing to the President.
Stormy Daniels would then be allowed to “(a) speak openly and freely about her prior relationship with the President and the attempts to silence her and (b) use and publish any text messages, photos and/or videos relating to the President that she may have in her possession, all without fear of retribution and/or legal liability for damages.”
Not to mention, it will also allow the full release of the 60 Minutes segment Daniels filmed this weekend.
This is a very bad spot for Trump and his lawyer to be in….
1) If he takes the offer, it will be humiliating for Daniels to reveal the details of Trump’s affair that happened with a porn star just after Barron Trump was born.
2) If he refuses the offer, the New York Times points out, “they could be seen as effectively acknowledging the existence of a continuing effort to keep Ms. Clifford silent about an affair that Mr. Cohen and the president say did not happen.”
The president and his team have until sometime today to answer the offer.
I’d bet money that they’ll refuse the offer, because Trump can’t take being embarrassed on a personal level like that. But, as stated above, refusing the offer is admitting to the affair and that the silencing happened. Either way, Trump loses.
