Trouble in Washington: Trump’s Lawmakers Now Threatening Each Other as Investigation Escalates

House Intelligence Chair Devin Nunes (R. CA) has got his knickers all knotted up over a spat with the Justice Department.  It’s so contentious that Nunes now wants to hold Attorney General Jeff Sessions in contempt of Congress for the DOJ’s refusal to hand over documents related to the Trump/Russia probe that they claim would pose a national security threat if they were to do so.

“Disclosure of responsive information to such requests can risk severe consequences, including potential loss of human lives, damage to relationships with valued international partners, compromise of ongoing criminal investigations, and interference with intelligence activities,” said Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd.

Devin Nunes says,”We’re just not going to take this nonsense of every time we peel something back, every time we need information, we get ignored, we get stalled or stonewalled”

It appears the Justice Department has the support of the White House in the refusal of Devin Nunes’ request, but that could change at any moment.

Boyd’s clearly states that the Justice Department determined after discussing with the White House, FBI and Office of the Director of National Intelligence that it was “not in a position to provide information responsive to your request regarding a specific individual.”

It has been clear from the start that anything Devin Nunes is involved in surrounding the investigation is nothing more than a partisan farce. The moment Nunes released his infamous phony memo, he lost all credibility with anyone actually paying attention in Washington. His motives are clear and they have nothing to do with serving the public, but rather engaging in partisan political warfare on behalf of Donald Trump.
