Trump spent much of last week whining about “little Adam Schiff” in a blatant cry of desperation. The Democrats of the House Intelligence Committee, including Schiff, were dealing with this Nunes memo scandal and calling it for what it is, and Trump couldn’t stop them.
When Trump announced he would not declassify the rebuttal memo from Democrats, we knew things were about to explode. It’s not like they can’t find another way to make it public, such as reading it aloud from the house floor.
Trump then attempted to tweet away his irritation by saying “The Democrats sent a very political and long response memo which they knew, because of sources and methods (and more), would have to be heavily redacted, whereupon they would blame the White House for lack of transparency. Told them to re-do and send back in proper form!”
Schiff responded by saying “Mr. President, what you call “political” are actually called facts, and your concern for sources and methods would be more convincing if you hadn’t decided to release the GOP memo (“100%”) before reading it and over the objections of the FBI.” Then he added “After ignoring urging of FBI & DOJ not to release misleading Nunes memo because it omits material facts, POTUS now expresses concerns over sharing precisely those facts with public and seeks to send it back to the same Majority that produced the flawed Nunes memo to begin with.”
Clearly, Adam Schiff is not the one with something to hide. Trump is running out of steam and everyone knows it. Schiff wins this battle and if I was a betting person, I would put all my money on Trump losing the war as well.
