Trump caves, infuriates his base with lame compromise – Pelosi says Nope!

Donald Trump announced last week that he would be making a “major announcement” about his government shutdown and border wall. Of course his “announcement” was nothing but weak Trump nonsense, once again.

Trump spent fifteen minutes giving a monotone speech, full of nonsense and lies about immigration. Then he offered to extend DACA for existing Dreamers in exchange for $5 billion for his “wall”. Apparently, Trump is too ignorant to know that DACA is already protected by law for at least another year because it’s tied up in the court system. This affectively makes DACA safe for many years to come, because Trump won’t be winning the White House again next year, assuming he is even able to run and dodges impeachment in the mean time.

The Dems, of course, were not interested in this offer by Trump. Nancy Pelosi said in a statement: “Democrats were hopeful that the President was finally willing to re-open government and proceed with a much-need discussion to protect the border. Unfortunately, initial reports make clear that his proposal is a compilation of several previously rejected initiatives, each of which is unacceptable and in total, do not represent a good faith effort to restore certainty to people’s lives”.

Pelosi goes on to say, ““It is unlikely that any one of these provisions alone would pass the House, and taken together, they are a non-starter.”

Trump’s very own base is pissed. They could not believe he offered any pro-immigrant concessions. Nancy Pelosi responded by rejecting Trump for trying to repackage the same old failed ideas that aren’t even original. Trump would not have the votes he needs to make this pass.

Ann Coulter posted a tweet making sure everyone knew how unhappy Trump’s base was saying “100 miles of border wall in exchange for amnestying millions of illegals. So if we grant citizenship to a BILLION foreigners, maybe we can finally get a full border wall.”
