The video below is from 2010 and was recently dug up by CNN’s K-file and features Donald Trump saying the following about Wikileaks, in response to Wikileaks’ leaking of Chelsea Manning’s classified documents: “I think it’s disgraceful, I think there should be like the death penalty or something.”
That was Trump in 2010. Not a fan of Wikileaks.
Now, in 2017, Trump is joining a growing chorus of conservative voices who are changing their tune on Wikileaks and founder Julian Assange, after Assange was interviewed by Sean Hannity. Sarah Palin, who once compared Assange (and we’re not making this up) to the Taliban, just this week said that Assange “isn’t such a bad guy.”
Trump hasn’t come around quite as much as Palin, but he has certainly softened his opinion on Assange, probably because Assange implied in the Hannity interview that Trump is more right about the Russian hacking scandal than US intelligence agencies are.
Trump continues to trust outside sources more than he trust our own Intelligence Agencies, and that should be very concerning to the American public. Do you think it’s possible that Assange was, I don’t know, lying? It would make sense as to why Trump is warming up to him. Bird of a feather….
