U.S. Ambassador to Russia Drops Bombshell on Trump’s Russia Claim

Donald Trump has continued to insist that the entire Trump-Russia scandal is “fake” and “phony”, despite the ever mounting pile of evidence proving otherwise. The number of people who believe him over the actual facts continues to shrink by the day and there aren’t many left.

Russia meddled in the election, it’s just matter of to what degree. Democrats admit it, Republicans admit it, and Trump knows it, but he says he believes Putin when he says he didn’t meddle. Even Trump’s own Ambassador to Russia is now defying Trump’s Russian stance on the election.

Utah businessman and politician Jon Huntsman didn’t make sense as the pick for the U.S. Ambassador to Russia role, but it may turn out better for Americans since he doesn’t appear more loyal to Trump than to the actual truth.

Huntsman is now admitting that Russia meddled in the election and he’s threatening the Russians if they try to meddle in future elections, which it appears he expects if things do not change course. This is a big deal, folks.

The Daily Beast reports, Jon Huntsman, the U.S. ambassador to Russia, warned in a closed-door briefing with lawmakers on Tuesday that the U.S.-Russia relationship would be “done” if the Kremlin tries to interfere in the 2018 midterm elections.

A source who attended the briefing, which took place with members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told The Daily Beast that Huntsman was unequivocal in stating that Russia interfered in the 2016 election. He said that as a former governor of Utah, he is deeply concerned about the idea of the Kremlin attempting to interfere with election rolls in individual states and localities. And he offered a stark warning: Russian actors were on course to meddle in U.S. elections again in 2018 and 2020, in addition to elections in other countries.

“I don’t think Russia is going to quit,” Huntsman told the nine Republican and 12 Democratic members who attended the briefing, according to the source who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “Putin probably has never been stronger.”

Huntsman can’t do much as an Ambassador, but the fact that he spoke out against Trump is very telling. This messes with Trump’s narrative that all things Russia meddling and collusion is “fake news”.

Most of Trump’s underlings continue to have his back, but it’s evident Huntsman is the only one more concerned with his own credibility than keeping in Trump’s good graces.

Jon Huntsman has business connections to Russia and it’s possible (though not proven) he took the job to establish new business connections. Regardless of the reason, it’s clear he’s not in it to fulfill Trump’s agenda and he doesn’t mind stepping out on his own.
