The former M16 agent who wrote the Trump-Russia dossier has now allegedly informed Special Counsel Robert Mueller that Putin vetoed Trump’s choice for Secretary of State. Steele shared that Putin disagreed with Mitt Romney as the choice and steered Trump to choose Rex Tillerson instead.
The breaking of this news also brings a new player into the scandal that had yet to be mentioned thus far in the investigation…Condoleezza Rice.
Putin reportedly steered Trump toward Tillerson, but former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates reportedly tried to steer Trump toward picking Tillerson as well.
Politico reported Condoleezza Rice saying, “Rex Tillerson is an excellent choice for Secretary of State. He will bring to the post remarkable and broad international experience; a deep understanding of the global economy; and a belief in America’s special role in the world,” said Rice, who served as national security adviser and secretary of state under George W. Bush. “I know Rex as a successful business man and a patriot. He will represent the interests and the values of the United States with resolve and commitment. And he will lead the exceptional men and women of the State Department with respect and dedication.”
Rice and Gates could have flown under the radar since their firm represented ExxonMobil and could have just been helping Tillerson find his next step after retirement, but now their actions are painted in a whole new light.
Perhaps it’s just a giant coincidence that Vladimir Putin was pushing Trump to pick Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State at the very same time as someone as politically savvy as Condoleezza Rice was trying to steer Tillerson toward Trump’s cabinet…but we aren’t buying it.
It never really made sense as to why Condi Rice was pushing Tillerson so hard in all of this, but now that Christopher Steele has revealed more details in the dossier, perhaps we have the biggest clue thus far.
Condi Rice now has herself right in the middle of the Trump-Russia scandal.
