After asking nearly everyone he could think of, Trump finally found someone to be his new White House Chief of Staff. Mick Mulvaney was everyone’s last pick, even Trump’s, and he was still only willing to take on the job on a trial basis. In true Trump fashion, soon after the announcement was made another scandal broke.
Mulvaney is known for his shady antics and his affinity for taking from the poor, so it makes since why Trump still likes him, but as it turns out Mulvaney doesn’t like Trump. Before the 2016 presidential election Mulvaney called Trump a “terrible human being” on camera.
Trump refused to hire anyone who’s said something negative about him, until now. That means he most likely didn’t know about Mulvaney’s comments before he brought him into the White House. The story wasn’t worth running before given Mulvaney’s low position in politics, but now it’s a lead story on several media outlets.
Now that Trump has elevated Mulvaney to the highest ranking job in the White House, and the story is all over the place, things must be growing tense between the two. It will be interesting to see if Trump tries to spin this story, claim it’s fake, or fire Mulvaney. It’s been a rough few weeks for Trump and it appears the hits are just going to keep on coming.
