North Carolina Republicans go low. All the time. In fact, cheating and gerrymandering and tampering with elections and voters’ rights is the only they’ve been able to stay in power there as long as they have.
The latest rounds of elections in North Carolina have taken their normal shenanigans up several notches.
Joe Bruno, a reporter with local news station WSOC 9 has found the second person who has admitted to taking ballots from voters in the state’s 9th Congressional District and giving them to a Republican operative who has already been convicted of multiple felonies.
Bruno posted a video interview of a North Carolina resident named Cheryl Kinlaw, who says that Republican operative McCrae Dowless paid her $100 to collect absentee ballots from certain NC-09 residents.
According to Bruno, the GOP operative “has a criminal record dating back to the 1980s” and also “served six months in prison after being convicted of felony fraud charge in 1992.”
Exclusive: A second woman, Cheryl Kinlaw, tells me she was paid $100 by McCrae Dowless to pickup absentee ballots. She said she never thought it was illegal because Dowless “has been doing it for years.” She says needed extra money for Christmas presents. #NC09 #ncpol @wsoctv pic.twitter.com/AR4AOyXROa
